DMAE (Dimethylaminoethanol) is a chemical
naturally produced in the human brain. It is thought to
be used by the body in converting the precursor choline
to the neurotransmitter, acetylcholine. This is the basis
for the reasoning behind the theory that supplementing with
DMAE will enhance brain activity.
DMAE has become very popular because of Dr. Nicholas Perricone,
MDs top-selling book, The Wrinkle Cure.
Dr. Perricones book promotes supplementing the diet
with DMAE as a treatment for reducing wrinkles.
For weight loss, some recommend the use of 5-HTP and
Guarana for appetite suppression and control, Calcium Pyruvate
and L-Carnitine for increased metabolic performance, and
Chitosan HD which binds fat and allows it to pass right
through you without your body storing it. However, DMAE
for weight loss has not been proven and as such, should
be avoided.
